NEW YORK, NY – October 8, 2014 – Reflecting its recent rebrand, today WE tv is introducing WE-D, the first-ever TV series application of 360° camera technology, which allows viewers to see alternate views of a WE tv original series in real time, via their mobile devices.  WE-D is available exclusively through the newly redesigned WE tv mobile app on iOS and Android.

“The concept and popularity of social media is built on the fundamental human need for connection and companionship, and we’ve tapped into that sentiment in rebranding WE tv,” said Marc Juris, WE tv’s president.  “Allowing viewers to actively engage with our content through new technology provides a unique and exciting new perspective, driving deeper engagement with our characters and shows.”

WE-D is a fully immersive experience that allows viewers to sync their mobile device to a show on WE tv through Audio Content Recognition (ACR) technology. While watching a WE tv original series on linear TV, viewers will be prompted to open the WE tv app on their mobile device so WE-D can sync with the show.  By swiping their mobile screen in all directions they’ll see exclusive 360° alternate views of the scene playing on screen in real time.

The WE-D app was developed in conjunction with Deluxe Entertainment Services Group.
